Company Description

Landrace populations have adapted over centuries to the climate and soil of a particular region. Conservation projects distribute non feminized seeds from these populations so that both sexes are represented and the full range of genetic diversity survives. Reproducing a line from only a few plants narrows that diversity and can weaken later generations. Preservation growers therefore pollinate openly among dozens of individuals, keeping seed from as many mothers as possible.
